Umerov denies agreeing to Trump’s peace plan for Ukraine

Kyiv continues to work with the American delegation on the peace plan. However, the information about the alleged “approval” or “removal of points” is not true.
This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the Telegram of the National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov.
“While work with the American delegation continues in Kyiv, there are speculations in the public space about the content of the consultations. I would like to clarify it briefly. During my business trip to the United States, my task was technical – organizing meetings and preparing a dialogue,” Umerov said.
According to him, I did not provide any assessments or even approve any points. This is not within my authority and does not comply with the procedure.
He also emphasized that yesterday, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a conversation with an American delegation authorized by US President Donald Trump. Today, this work continues in Kyiv at the technical level between the teams.
“We are carefully studying all the proposals of our partners, expecting the same correct attitude to the Ukrainian position. Media publications about the alleged “approval” or “removal of points” have nothing to do with reality. These are examples of unverified information that arose outside the context of consultations,” he added.
The NSDC Secretary also emphasized that Ukraine is carefully considering the proposals of its partners within the framework of unchanging principles – sovereignty, security of people and a just peace.
US statements on Umerov’s position
It should be noted that, according to US Presidential Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt, Rustem Umerov has already approved “most of the plan” in the negotiations.
At the same time, the US also said that it had received “positive feedback” from Umerov on the proposed plan, but did not say that Ukraine had agreed to the deal.
A senior U.S. official also said that Ukraine had made a significant change to one of the key points of the U.S. peace plan, eliminating the verification of international aid.
Allegedly, the original wording of the plan called for verification of all international aid received by Ukraine, presumably to identify potential corruption. However, the new version no longer contains this requirement: instead of verification, it is proposed that all parties will receive “full amnesty for their actions during the war.”
