The government has appointed a new acting head of the State Geological Service: what is known about him

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has appointed Leonid Muzyk as acting head of the State Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine. The relevant order dated January 30, 2026, was published on the government portal, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

As stated in the document, Muzykus will perform the duties of the head of the service until the appointment of a chairman in accordance with the procedure established by law.

Who is Leonid Muzykus

Prior to his appointment, Muzyk held the position of first deputy head of the State Geological Service. In the service, he was responsible, in particular, for the activities of enterprises under its management.

Prior to working at the State Geological Service, Muzyk worked at the state-owned enterprise National Information Systems, the Ukrainian Fintech Association, and the National Bank of Ukraine.

Why the vacancy arose

The position of head of the State Service of Geology and Subsoil became vacant after the government’s decision on January 7, 2026, to dismiss Oleg Gotsynets.

Gotsynets had headed the service since November 2024.
