Government Appoints Interim Minister of Culture: What is known about Tetiana Berezhna

The Cabinet of Ministers has appointed Tetyana Berezhna as acting Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications. This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
“In times of transformation, it is important for the ministry to maintain control, financial solvency and interaction with the cultural community. That is why the duties of the interim head have been entrusted to an experienced manager with a strong background in public policy, international projects, and work with partners,” Svyrydenko wrote.
She clarified that Berezhna’s main task is to ensure proper funding for Ukrainian culture in times of war. It is also necessary to conduct a needs audit, intensify dialogue with donors, and find additional resources, and in these areas Tetiana Berezhna has already shown results in the Ministry of Economy.
“Berezhna has extensive experience in reforms, cultural diplomacy and international cooperation, in particular as Ukraine’s commissioner for EXPO-2025 in Japan,” Svyrydenko assured.
The head of government emphasized that the Cabinet of Ministers plans to separate information policy and strategic communications into a separate area with a clear mandate and resources, which will allow for focused work on the country’s information sustainability.
“Cultural policy needs a new impetus,” the Prime Minister summarized.

What is known about Tetiana Berezhna

She graduated from the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. She received a bachelor’s degree in law and a master’s degree in jurisprudence.
She completed an internship at the Parliament of Canada as a Canada-Ukraine Parliamentary Program (CUPP) Fellow.
She also studied at the Ukrainian School of Political Studies, the Aspen Institute Kyiv in the Values and Society program, and the Kyiv School of Economics in the Government Relations (GR) program.
She completed her studies at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) under the LSE IDEAS program: “A Global System in Transition and Ukraine’s Reconstruction”.
In 2025, she graduated from the School of Strategic Architect program at Kyiv Mohyla Business School (KMBS) with a degree in Management and Administration.
She is one of the top 10 most effective civil servants and politicians with legal practice experience according to the Yurydychna Gazeta research “Practice Leaders – 2025”.

Professional experience:
Has more than 10 years of experience in advocacy.
Since 2011, she has worked at Vasil Kisil & Partners Law Firm. In 2017, she received a certificate of admission to the bar.
She has received a number of awards for her professional work.
In 2017-2021, she was listed by Chambers Europe as one of the recommended lawyers in Ukraine in the field of taxation, in particular in tax disputes.
In 2018-2021, she was recognized by the International Legal 500 in Taxation.
Listed by Best Lawyers as one of the leading lawyers in Ukraine in Taxation in 2021-2022.
In 2025, she was appointed Commissioner General of Ukraine at the Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan. She is responsible for representing Ukraine and implementing the national pavilion.
By the Order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 483-r dated June 17, 2022, she was appointed Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine.
