The government has expanded the list of critical infrastructure facilities: what will change

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has decided to expand the criteria for identifying companies that are deemed critical to meeting the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The new rules will allow more companies operating in the defense sector to be included on this list. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing the press service of the Ministry of Economy.
Which enterprises will be eligible for the new status
According to the updated criteria, enterprises that meet the following criteria may now be classified as critically important:
- provide logistics transportation for the Armed Forces of Ukraine
- repair military equipment
- provide technical maintenance for weapons
- handle ammunition and its components
- procure defense-related goods
- maintain specialized military equipment.
These are companies that fulfill relevant contracts with the command of military branches or individual service branches.
Why this decision is important
According to Vitaliy Kindrativ, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine, the changes are aimed at supporting enterprises that ensure the stable operation of the defense sector.
“Expanding the criteria will allow us to support enterprises engaged in logistics, repair, and maintenance of military equipment. This will contribute to the uninterrupted functioning of the defense industry,” the official noted.

This status allows companies to:
- exempt employees from mobilization
- ensure uninterrupted production
- receive government support
- consistently fulfill defense contracts.
The government expects that these changes will help strengthen the country’s defense capabilities and ensure the stable operation of companies that supply the military.
