From now on, military personnel can register such vehicles in their own names and use them legally until the end of martial law and three months after its lifting or termination. The Cabinet of Ministers has adopted the relevant resolution, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

This means that the government has introduced a mechanism for temporary state registration of vehicles that military personnel receive as humanitarian aid.

“First of all, we ensure transparency of ownership of vehicles, regulate the procedure for traveling abroad and transferring such vehicles to brothers or sisters. Simplification and transparency of the procedure, respectively, increase the efficiency of humanitarian aid distribution,” the Ministry of Social Policy said .

What documents should be submitted to register a car for temporary registration

In order to register a vehicle received from volunteers, a soldier must submit the following documents to the service center within 10 days

  • application;
  • an identity document;
  • a document on military service;
  • a vehicle transfer and acceptance certificate in the prescribed form;
  • a printed electronic declaration.

In order to simplify the subsequent re-registration of a vehicle recognized as humanitarian aid to other servicemen, the transfer and acceptance certificate, in accordance with the Resolution, may specify up to 5 servicemen who have the right to drive this vehicle and re-register it for themselves. Therefore, information about them is entered in the “Special notes” column of the registration certificate.

Upon completion of the registration actions, the serviceman informs the military unit, body, or subdivision in which he is serving that he has received and registered a vehicle recognized as humanitarian aid.

When temporary vehicle registration is terminated

Temporary registration of vehicles is terminated in the event of:

  • destruction of the vehicle;
  • death of a serviceman;
  • suspension of military service;
  • recognition of a serviceman as missing in action;
  • a serviceman is held in captivity;
  • stay of a serviceman for treatment for more than one month (in particular, in connection with wounding, contusion, trauma or injury);
  • being wanted in connection with unauthorized leaving of a military unit or desertion;
  • discharge of a serviceman from military service;
  • refusal of a serviceman to use transportation in favor of another serviceman.
