The government approved new contracts for the military: what are the terms, bonuses and deferrals?

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a bill that provides for new contracts for the military with clear terms of service and improved bonuses and benefits. This was reported by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal on Telegram, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
Shmyhal noted that the draft law provides for contracts for soldiers, sergeants and officers of all the Security and Defense Forces: The Armed Forces, the National Guard, the State Border Guard Service, and others.
What are the contract terms?
The term of service under the contract is from 1 to 5 years.
Upon expiration of the contract, if it was concluded for 2-5 years, a 12-month deferral from mobilization is granted.
What bonuses and allowances are provided?
Soldiers will be provided with annual financial bonuses and additional monthly remuneration for participation in combat operations.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko added that the draft law provides for payments for the conclusion and extension of the contract, monthly allowances and combat allowances. This is a step towards building a professional, motivated and resilient army.
Who can sign the new contracts?
The following will be able to sign contracts:
- reservists;
- citizens in the reserve;
- mobilized military personnel;
- military personnel already serving under a contract – they can renegotiate it on new terms.
According to the Prime Minister, the government is also introducing officer contracts for foreigners and stateless persons. They will have the opportunity to serve in the State Special Transport Service.
