30 July 13:39

Ukrainians treated with medical cannabis have more options for therapy. The Ministry of Health has added new dosages and combination products to the official list that can now be manufactured in pharmacies. In total, there are now 16 such drugs, "Komersant Ukrainian" informs, citing the report of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

What’s new in pharmacies

Instead of a limited choice, patients can now get:

  • 14 different forms of drugs based on THC (tetrahydrocannabinol);
  • 2 combined options that combine THC and CBD (cannabidiol).

This means that doctors can better tailor the dosage and form of the drug to the specific needs of the patient.

How to get the medicine

The procedure remains the same as before:

  • Step 1: The doctor writes an electronic prescription through the EHR system (only for patients with diagnoses allowed by the Ministry of Health)
  • Step 2: The patient goes to the pharmacy with the e-prescription
  • Step 3: Medicines are manufactured individually and dispensed at the patient’s own expense.

⚠️ Important: Paper prescriptions for such medicines are not accepted – only electronic ones through the EHR.

When it started

Medical cannabis in Ukraine is a relatively new story:

  • February 2024Parliament authorized the use of medical cannabis.
  • October 2024 – the system was launched in pharmacies.
  • July 2025 – the choice of drugs was expanded
