The World Boxing Council named Ukrainian champion Oleksandr Usyk the author of the best knockout of 2025. He received the award for his spectacular early victory over Britain’s Daniel Dubois in a fight that took place in London. The decision was announced by the World Boxing Council (WBC), which noted the spectacular nature and finishing power of the Ukrainian’s punch, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

“Knockout of the Year” according to the WBC

The WBC emphasized that Usyk proved his versatility in the heavyweight division — a combination of technique, movement, and a powerful finish:

“Usyk proved that, in addition to his masterful technique, he also possesses the power of a finishing blow. The Ukrainian spectacularly stopped a giant like Dubois with a punch that was the perfect ending to his stunning performance in the heavyweight division,” the WBC said in a statement.

How the title fight unfolded

In July 2025, Usyk knocked out Dubois in the fifth round, becoming the undisputed world champion for the third time in his career. Previously, the Ukrainian had collected all the belts in the cruiserweight division (up to 90.7 kg), and later twice in the heavyweight division.

This fight was the second between the two boxers. Their first meeting took place in August 2025 in Wroclaw, where Usyk defeated the Briton by knockout in the ninth round.

Usyk’s career statistics

The 39-year-old champion has 24 wins in 24 professional fights, 15 of which ended in knockouts.

The WBC’s recognition only underscores Usyk’s status as one of the strongest boxers of his generation and a leader in the heavyweight division.

Where Usyk stands now

Oleksandr Usyk last boxed in May against Daniel Dubois, where he became the undisputed world champion for the second time.

However, at the end of October, it became known that Usyk had relinquished his WBO title, which he was supposed to defend against Britain’s Fabio Wardley.

On October 26, the WBO announced Wardley as the mandatory challenger.

On November 18 , the organization confirmed that Usyk was no longer the undisputed champion after relinquishing the WBO belt.

In September, the WBO had already granted the Ukrainian a postponement for the defense of his titles, but now his status has been changed permanently.

Despite losing the WBO belt, Usyk retains the WBA, WBC, and IBF titles — and, according to him, wants to have a big fight with Deontay Wilder.

It should be noted that Usyk has officially become one of the richest boxers on the planet. The British publication GiveMeSport has published a ranking of the richest boxers of all time, and the Ukrainian took an honorable fifth place.

Usyk’s fortune is estimated at $214 million — $68 million more than his main rival in the ring, Tyson Fury.

It is noted that Oleksandr Usyk is estimated to have earned about $100 million for his second victory over Tyson Fury.
