Uzhhorod airport transferred to the Ministry of Internal Affairs: what will change

The airport in Uzhhorod was transferred to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The agency plans to create a European hub for civil protection air support there. Deputy Head of the Presidential Office for Regional Policy Viktor Mykyta said this in an interview with LB.ua, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
According to him, the issue of opening an airport in Ukraine has been put on hold, and the airport in Uzhhorod could provide irregular charter public flights.
“The policy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs allows this. The SES is a civil aviation, not a military one. There can’t be military aircraft there, the logistics are unsuccessful in general,” he said.
However, it should be borne in mind that the distance from Kyiv to Zakarpattia region is 800 km. In view of this, it is sometimes more convenient to get to Poland by train and fly from there than to drive to Uzhhorod.
“We need to build a road and improve the railway connection,” he explained.
It should be noted that Boryspil Airport and Lviv Danylo Halytskyi Airport are the first airports that may open for passenger traffic in Ukraine. Bohdan Dolintse, an expert on aviation market development, told Kommersant Ukrainsky in an exclusive commentary.
