Due to the war in Ukraine, a number of public roads of national importance and artificial structures on them have been damaged and destroyed. In response to a request from Komersant ukrayinskyi , the State Agency for the Restoration and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine provided the relevant figures.
“Since the beginning of the full-scale aggression, the volume of destroyed and/or damaged public roads of national importance and artificial structures on them in the territory controlled by Ukraine (as of 01.02.2024) is more than 4.2 thousand km of roads, 141 artificial structures with a length of 15.6 thousand linear metres,”
– the Agency reported.
They also reminded that in the period from 01.01.2020 to 27.06.2024, 9,154 km of public roads of national importance and 649 artificial structures on them were built, reconstructed and repaired in Ukraine.
As you know, in June this year, the Cabinet of Ministers dismissed Mustafa Nayem from the post of head of the State Agency for the Restoration and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine.
Questions about the work of the State Agency for the Restoration and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine, headed by Mustafa Nayem, have been raised after the Russians destroyed the Trypillia thermal power plant in Kyiv region in a massive attack with missiles and drones on the night of 11 April, and Centrenergo lost 100% of its generation. The State Agency for the Restoration and Development of Infrastructure is partly responsible for security at Ukrainian energy facilities.
However, the agency reported that it is building protective structures for 22 Ukrenergo power substations. The agency is not involved in the construction of protective structures at Centrenergo’s facilities, including the Tripoli TPP.
Mustafa Nayem wrote a letter of resignation on 10 June 2024. The reason for his resignation was “systemic obstacles that do not allow him to perform his duties effectively”. Another reason he gave was that since the beginning of the year, the Agency has been significantly cut in salaries – most employees have had their salaries cut by up to 68%.
Earlier, Nayem complained that salaries at the Recovery Agency were too low.
Currently, Roman Komendant is the interim head of the State Agency for Recovery.
