A ship carrying a cargo of wheat sank in the Sea of Azov off the coast of the Kherson region; two of the eleven crew members of the dry cargo ship were killed.
This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing Russian propaganda media.
“Nine crew members of the dry cargo ship that sank in the Sea of Azov were evacuated to a lifeboat and reached the Kherson region,” the report states. The dry cargo ship sank “300 miles (480 km) north of Kerch,” the media outlet specifies.
The agency’s sources claim that the ship sank “as a result of a UAV attack.” At the time of publication, neither the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine nor the Russian Ministry of Defense had commented on the incident in the Sea of Azov.
A few hours earlier, Vladimir Saldo, the Russian-appointed “governor” of the partially occupied Kherson region, reported on Telegram that a Volgo-Balt-class vessel carrying a cargo of wheat had suffered an accident in the waters of the Azov Sea. The crew abandoned ship and managed to reach the shore of the Kherson region. “Nine crew members, citizens of the Russian Federation, were found on shore.” According to the “governor,” there were 12 Russians on board; only the first mate, born in 1991, died, and two others are missing.
Governor of the Rostov Region: A missile strike was launched on Taganrog overnight
Yuri Slyusar, governor of the Rostov region, previously reported an airstrike by the Ukrainian Armed Forces using missiles and UAVs on the night of April 4. According to him, one person was killed and four were injured in Taganrog; among the wounded was a “foreign national.” Medical personnel assess the condition of three of the injured as critical, Slyusar added.
The missile strike on Taganrog damaged commercial infrastructure, and a fire broke out on the premises of a logistics company’s warehouse, the official reported. “In the waters of the bay (of the Azov Sea —Ed.), a commercial vessel was damaged and a fire broke out after being struck by UAV debris. The dry cargo ship flying the flag of a foreign state was located several kilometers from the coastline,” Slyusar added.
