DTEK names the device that consumes the most electricity

The most energy-intensive home appliance in Ukraine is an air conditioner. This follows from the words of Serhiy Kovalenko, CEO of YASNO, a company that supplies electricity and gas to citizens on behalf of DTEK, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
“You are laughing, but air conditioners in Kyiv produced 350 MW per day. This is more than some regional centres…”
– he wrote in X.
DTEK is unable to calculate the consumption of air conditioners. In this case, as the manager explained, it is a case of a jump in electricity consumption with a rise in temperature.
Typically, Kyiv consumes 1000-1200 MW of electricity per day, so an increase of 350 MW is more than a third.
At the same time, the director explains the excessive power cuts in Kyiv not by air conditioning, but by the presence of critical infrastructure in a large district.
“Yes, there are more power cuts in Kyiv than in other regions. This is due, among other things, to the large amount of critical infrastructure. That is, the amount of critical infrastructure is subtracted from the maximum possible consumption and the balance is distributed among all consumers,”
