Authorities in Ireland are investigating the murder of a Ukrainian man following a stabbing

The Garda Síochána is investigating the murder of a Ukrainian citizen who died following a stabbing in Cork.

This was reported by The Sun, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

The incident occurred on the evening of March 16.

What is known about the attack

According to police, the 31-year-old Ukrainian man left his home around 7:00 p.m. to buy groceries.

At that time, he was attacked with a knife.

Despite his injuries, the man was able to return home around 8:00 p.m.

Medical personnel were unable to save the victim

The victim’s wife immediately called the police and an ambulance.

However, doctors were unable to save the man—he died from his injuries.

Police are gathering evidence

Following the attack, law enforcement officers:

  • cordoned off the house and part of the street where the incident occurred;
  • are interviewing residents of neighboring houses;
  • are reviewing CCTV footage from the area.

The investigation is being conducted by the Garda Síochána.

The victim’s family has been relocated

According to local media reports, the deceased’s wife and child have been temporarily relocated to another residence.

This was done for safety reasons and to support the family.

Recently, several high-profile crimes have been reported in European countries, with Ukrainian citizens as the victims.

In particular, in the city of Essen, a court found a 16-year-old Ukrainian man guilty of murdering a 32-year-old Ukrainian woman and her young daughter and sentenced him to 10 years in prison.

Also, the day before, a 19-year-old Ukrainian refugee was found dead in a forest in Mannheim, Germany. Investigators suspect she was murdered, and that jealousy was the motive for the killing.
