Italy has launched a government program that allows you to buy an electric car at a record low price – from 3,900 euros. This became possible due to large-scale discounts introduced by the government to encourage the transition of citizens to environmentally friendly transportation. This is reported by Autogeek, "Komersant Ukrainian" informs

Buyers of electric cars can now get a discount of up to 11,000 euros. For example, the popular Dacia Spring city crossover hatchback costs only 3,900 euros after compensation, and the Chinese Leapmotor T03 costs only 4,900 euros.

The goal of the program is to reduce emissions and speed up the replacement of the internal combustion engine fleet. It is aimed primarily at low-income citizens:

  • participants must live in cities with a population of more than 50,000 people;
  • annual income should not exceed EUR 30,000;
  • a prerequisite is to hand over an old car of at least Euro 5 standard for recycling.

For Italians with an income of 30,000 to 40,000 euros, a smaller discount of 9,000 euros is provided.

In total, the Italian government has allocated 597 million euros for the program. The initiative will continue until all funds are used, which will allow the purchase of approximately 60,000 electric cars on preferential terms.

Thus, Italy is betting on affordable eco-transportation, aiming to become one of the European leaders in the transition to green mobility.
