NABU has been analysing Bihus.info’s investigation into MP Zhupanin’s London travels for almost a month: no decision has been made yet

A journalistic investigation by Bihus.Info entitled “MP Zhupanin’s wife ‘burned’ him on holiday in London” , published on 22 July 2024, revealed that the MP frequently visits the British capital, wherehe spends time with his wife, visits museums and restaurants, and lives in a luxury apartment worth over £5,000 per month. At the time, journalists highlighted the fact that Zhupanin was visiting London despite the ban on MPs leaving the country on non-governmental business. “As of the moment of receipt of the request, NABU detectives are conducting analytical work to verify the information contained in the journalistic investigation.”

MP from the Servant of the People party, Andrii Zhupanin, found himself at the centre of a scandal over his regular trips to London during the full-scale war in Ukraine. A journalistic investigation by Bihus.Info found that the MP frequently visits the British capital, where he has holidays with his wife and lives in luxury apartments.
Compensation for rent
Andrii Zhupanin, according to his income declaration, rents an apartment in Kyiv for UAH 240,000 per year. The state compensates him for this.
At the same time, Zhupanin’s wife has had her own apartment in Kyiv since 2018, which the politician also notes in his declaration.
Luxurious life
In addition to the aforementioned frequent visits to London, the public attention was also drawn to the luxurious lifestyle of the Zhupanin family. The MP’s wife, Bohdana, shows off expensive jewellery, luxury brand clothes and her holidays on social media.
According to Zhupanin’s official declaration, his personal wealth is relatively small – about 40 thousand hryvnias and 70 thousand dollars in savings. Instead, his wife, who, according to the MP’s declaration, is unemployed, has significant amounts of cash on her books: 1.5 million hryvnias, 130 thousand pounds, 195 thousand euros and 182 thousand dollars.
