Protests in occupied Donetsk over lack of water

The water supply situation in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk Oblast is critical. Local residents have not been receiving drinking water for more than a day, and at best, water is supplied for only a few hours a day. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" reports with reference to the Centre of National Resistance.
This situation caused outrage among the population, which began to block the streets and demand explanations from the occupation authorities. The occupiers ignore the rallies because they do not have an agreed position with the Kremlin on how to solve the problem.
The causes of the water crisis have a long history. The Siverskyi Donets-Donbass water pipeline is not functioning because of the hostilities, and the new water pipeline from the Don, which the occupiers have been building for two years, has not been able to completely solve the problem. Water was still supplied to Donetsk on schedule.
The situation was further complicated by a recent accident. A power outage in Russia caused the pumping stations of the new canal to fail, which led to a complete shutdown of the water supply system. It is estimated that repairs will take months, which means a further deterioration of the water supply situation in the occupied territories.
The Centre of National Resistance reminds that under international law, it is the occupier who is responsible for ensuring the life support in the occupied territories.
