In Russia, the world’s largest fertilizer producer came under attack by drones: what is known

The Stavropol Krai region of the Russian Federation came under attack by unidentified drones on the night of March 19. There are reports of an attack on one of the world’s largest fertilizer manufacturers, Nevinnomyssk Azot.

This was reported by [Komersant], citing Russian propaganda media.

It is known that the industrial zone in Nevinnomyssk was attacked by drones. It is known that the Azot plant belongs to the EuroChem group—one of the world’s largest producers of mineral fertilizers. The plant produces acetic acid, which is necessary for explosives.

Stavropol Krai Governor Vladimir Vladimirov declared a drone threat overnight and subsequently confirmed that debris had fallen in the area.

“A massive air attack was repelled in Stavropol. There is no damage to critical infrastructure. Unfortunately, a woman was injured in the Kochubeevsky District when UAV debris fell on a private residence. Her life is not in danger; medical personnel are attending to her,” he wrote.

It should be noted that this is not the first time the Azot plant in Nevinnomyssk has been attacked.

Also, on February 25, explosions were heard in the city of Dorogobuzh in the Smolensk region of the Russian Federation—drones attacked the “PJSC Dorogobuzh” chemical plant. This facility had already been attacked by Ukrainian drones in December 2025.

Drones frequently target chemical plants and similar facilities in Russia, especially those linked to the defense industry. For example, on December 25, PJSC “Dorogobuzh” was attacked—an industrial enterprise in the chemical sector specializing in the production of nitrogen fertilizers and chemical products.
