Iskander missile factory attacked in Udmurtia: details

21 February 10:11

In the Udmurt Republic, located almost 1,500 kilometers from the border with Ukraine, an “object” that was not named by the Russian authorities was attacked. The fact of its destruction was confirmed by local governor Alexander Brechalov. In his statement on the night of Saturday, February 21, he said that “one of the objects in the republic was attacked by drones,” resulting in “damage and casualties.”

This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Russian propaganda media.

According to the findings of Astra, which analyzed eyewitness footage, the attack hit the Votkinsk Plant in the city of Votkinsk near Izhevsk, which produces Iskander-M ballistic missiles, “Topol-M” and “Oreshnik” ballistic missiles, which are widely used for strikes on Ukraine. The strategic defense enterprise is under sanctions from the US, UK, EU, Switzerland, Australia, Japan, and Ukraine, Astra specifies. According to local residents, two workshops of the plant were damaged during the strike.

A powerful explosion at the same military enterprise occurred on February 7, 2024. As stated at the time, the explosion was the result of a “scheduled test of rocket engines.”

Ukrainian OSINT projects: The strike was carried out with Flamingo missiles

According to a number of Ukrainian channels, in particular, Exilenova and CyberMuka, the strike on the Votkinsk Plant was carried out not by UAVs, but by Flamingo missiles. At the time of publication, neither the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine nor the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation had commented on the incident.

In the summer of 2025, Ukrainian drones attacked another enterprise in the Udmurt Republic: the Izhevsk Electromechanical Plant “Kupol” — one of the manufacturers of the Tor and Osa air defense systems and Harpy strike drones for the Russian army.
