Power outages will be in effect in Ukraine on March 16: Ukrenergo has announced the restrictions

16 March 06:09

On March 16, hourly power outage schedules and restrictions on industrial use will be implemented across all regions of Ukraine.

This was reported by [Komersant], citing the National Energy Company “Ukrenergo.”

It is noted that the schedules for hourly power outages and power restrictions will be in effect in all regions of the country, but only during the evening hours—from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. There are no plans to restrict electricity consumption at other times.

The company reminded that the reasons for the restrictions are the consequences of Russian missile and drone attacks against the Ukrainian power grid. They also warned that the situation in the power grid may change—therefore, the schedules are not final.

“Check the official websites of the regional power distribution companies in your area for the times and duration of power outages at your address. When electricity is restored according to the schedule, please use it sparingly!” the statement added.

The situation in the power grid: what is known

The winter of 2025–2026 was the harshest of the war. Russian occupiers carried out a large number of attacks against the power grid. According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the occupiers used a large number of missiles and drones.

It is known that Russian attacks damaged all of Ukraine’s power plants. However, the power grid continues to operate thanks to the efforts of energy workers, physical protection of facilities, and support from partners in the air defense sector. Damage is being repaired, although this will take a long time.

Experts predict that the power grid could stabilize as early as April, when rising temperatures and the end of the heating season will reduce the load on the grid.
