Milk is getting more expensive in Ukraine: reasons

Dairy products in Ukraine have risen in price by 20% over the past year. Olena Zhupinas, Deputy Director General of the Association of Milk Producers, told the "Komersant Ukrainian" YouTube channel.

“If we compare the cost of finished products with last year’s prices, they have risen by an average of 15-20%.

But I must say that the rise in price of dairy products is a global trend. Dairy products, such as butter and cheese, are getting more expensive all over the world. This is because the purchase price of raw milk is rising,” she explained.

According to the State Statistics Service, average consumer prices for milk and dairy products in Ukraine have been steadily increasing over the past two years.

The Ukrainian Association of Milk Producers reports that the number of cows in Ukraine is declining: in 2025, it will be the lowest in decades. This leads to a decrease in domestic production and an increase in production costs.
