Two tobacco companies in Ukraine have had their licences revoked: who are they?

Based on the results of of investigative actions by the Bureau of Economic Security, the State Tax Service of Ukraine revoked the licences of two tobacco manufacturers. The BES did not disclose who exactly it was, but stressed that two cigarette production lines, a processing line and 18 tonnes of tobacco raw materials were seized during the investigation.

According to this reportat least two of the three tobacco manufacturers may be involved, reports "Komersant Ukrainian" reports with reference to the BES press release of 15 May;

  • United Tobacco LLC – produces cigarettes under the Marshall and BRUT brands.
  • “Dniprovska Tobacco Factory produces cigarettes under the Urta brand.
  • “Vynnykivska Tobacco Factory produces cigarettes under the Marvel and Compliment brands.

For the purpose of confirming or denying this information [comersant] has sent a request to the State Tax Service.

In June of this year, thousands of packs of smuggled Compliment cigarettes produced by Vynnykivska Tobacco Factory and Marshal by United Tobacco were once again seized by the State Customs Service.
