Ukraine has no plans to lift curfew

In Ukraine, the curfew regime will not be lifted or revised. However, exceptions may be made during prolonged heat or power outages.
This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Telegram messages from Deputy Prime Minister for Recovery and Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine Oleksiy Kuleba.
Kuleba took part in the first meeting of the headquarters for eliminating the consequences of Russian shelling of energy facilities in Kyiv, chaired by Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal.
They focused on priority decisions: accelerating restoration work, forming equipment reserves, and coordinating with international partners. In such conditions, clear interaction between all services and a unified action plan are critically important.
According to Kuleba, a separate issue is strengthening the protection of energy infrastructure.
Also, on the instructions of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the issues of curfew and the work of the Points of Invincibility were considered separately.
“I emphasize: the curfew regime is not being canceled or revised. At the same time, in the event of prolonged heat or power outages, the state must act flexibly without violating security decisions,” the deputy prime minister noted.
According to him, this refers to possible temporary and specific exceptions that will allow:
- ensure the uninterrupted operation of critical life support facilities;
- give people the opportunity to safely reach Points of Invincibility – similar to access to shelters;
- ensure the operation of institutions that officially perform the function of Points of Invincibility.
“Such decisions can only be made with the participation of the military command and defense councils and only where the security situation allows. There can be no unauthorized decisions at the local level,” Kuleba emphasized.
Curfew during an energy emergency
Yesterday, January 14, following a meeting on emergency circumstances, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that a decision had been made to declare an emergency in the energy sector.
In addition, Zelensky said that curfew may be lifted in some cities and communities in Ukraine. This decision is possible due to the emergency in the energy sector.
