In June 2024, cars with conventional engines accounted for more than 61% of the new car market. Last year, this figure was 71%, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports, citing Ukravtoprom.
Petrol-engined models remain the most popular, accounting for 36.9% of June’s new car sales, down almost 10 percentage points from June 2023.
At the same time, the share of diesel cars remained almost unchanged at 24.7%.
The share of hybrids increased significantly from 18% to 22.9%.
The electric vehicle segment also grew from 10.5% to 15.2%.
As in the previous year, CNG cars accounted for less than 1% of new car sales.
Leading positions by segments:
- petrolcars – Suzuki SX4;
- diesel – Renault Duster;
- hybrid – Toyota RAV-4;
- electric cars – Honda M-NV;
- cars with LPG – KIA Sportage.
The statistics show the growing popularity of electric vehicles in Ukraine and indicate the regions where these cars are in greatest demand. The demand for electric vehicles increased by 68% over the year.
Meanwhile, the West is fighting the Chinese electric car industry: The EU is ready to take tough measures against Chinese electric cars, and the US will quadruple tariffs on them.
