Ukraine revises the list of critical infrastructure facilities: the duration of blackout schedules will be reduced

The government, together with the heads of regional civil-military administrations, has reviewed the lists of critical infrastructure facilities.

This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko.

The review found an opportunity to free up at least 800 MW of electricity capacity. This will reduce the duration of blackout schedules for people and industry.

Two categories were removed from the lists: consumers with a capacity of less than 100 kW, and facilities to which a number of other consumers were connected, which are subject to general restrictions to ensure fair distribution of electricity.

Consumers of concomitant load that are not critical will be transferred to the outage schedules according to the general procedure.

Svyrydenko reminded that this revision does not apply to supporting hospitals, life support facilities, and defense industry enterprises.

In Ukraine, due to the damage to power facilities caused by Russian shelling, hourly blackouts and power limitation schedules are being applied to industrial consumers and businesses.

on October 30, the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine stated that due to Russian attacks, there is a serious risk of dangerous consequences for civilians this winter, including prolonged interruptions in heating, electricity and water supply. According to the UN, such interruptions will be particularly painful for vulnerable groups, such as the elderly, people with disabilities, and families with young children.
