Ukraine plans to increase the cost of gas delivery
7 October 2024 20:30
From 1 January 2025, all Ukrainian consumers will be charged for gas delivery. At the same time, those who consumed more natural gas from October 2023 to September 2024 compared to the same period in 2022/2023 will have to pay more – consumption for that period is planned to be taken into account in the new bills.
According to lawyers, gas delivery tariffs differ from region to region: in Chernivtsi region, they are UAH 2.388 per cubic metre, while in the capital, they are UAH 0.384.
The gas distribution fee is intended to cover the maintenance of gas networks, the operation of emergency dispatch services, and the salaries of specialists who ensure the proper operation of gas pipelines on a daily basis. It is calculated based on the volume of consumption used in the previous gas year, i.e. from 1 October to 30 September.
Currently, Ukrainians are paying for the volumes used from October 2022 to September 2023, and in 2025 – for the volumes from October 2023 to September 2024.
For example, if a consumer used 1,100 cubic metres of gas in 2022-2023, their monthly payment will be UAH 163.9, or 91.6 cubic metres.
And if you consumed 1,300 cubic metres of gas last year, then from 1 January 2025 you will have to pay UAH 193.7 per month (for 108.3 cubic metres). The volume of consumption is divided by 12 and multiplied by the tariff applicable in your city.
In addition, there is a minimum consumption volume: if you only have a gas stove, you will be charged at least 39 cubic metres for delivery per year, even if you did not use gas. If you have a gas boiler, the minimum volume increases to 126 cubic metres, and if you have heating, to 314 cubic metres.
