The government has approved a procedure for photo and video recording of inspections at chemical industry enterprises. This was reported by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

“The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the Procedure for recording state supervision (control) measures in the field of chemical safety and chemical product management. The document was developed to implement the provisions of the European Integration Framework Law “On Ensuring Chemical Safety and Management of Chemical Products”, which was adopted in December 2022,” the statement said.

It is noted that this procedure will allow inspectors of the State Ecological Inspectorate to effectively and fully exercise their powers to record supervision (control) measures, in particular, to use portable video recorders, photo and video cameras, drones, and other devices to record the inspection process, detection of offences and their consequences.

The footage will be stored for 120 days. If it is used in administrative, criminal or disciplinary proceedings, it will be stored until the end of such proceedings. The storage period may also be extended, taking into account the timeframe for the company to appeal the decision of the state supervisory (control) authorities.

According to Olena Kramarenko, First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, this will eliminate any opportunities for abuse, misrepresentation of facts and potential corruption factors.
