Carrots continue to rise in price in Ukraine: what are the reasons?

31 January 22:15

Ukrainian carrot producers have been raising prices for high-quality products for the second week in a row, according to analysts at EastFruit, as reported by Komersant.

According to market participants, the further price increase is due to high demand for high-quality root vegetables amid limited supply of such products. Wholesale companies and retail chains are actively purchasing vegetables as stocks of such high-quality carrots in farm storage facilities are rapidly declining.

The general price range for carrots is currently 8-14 UAH/kg ($0.19-0.33/kg) , which is on average 26% more expensive than at the end of last week. At the same time, not all farmers with equipped storage facilities are actively selling high-quality products today, hoping to sell them at higher prices in the future.

It should be noted that despite the price increase in the carrot segment, at the moment , it is sold on the Ukrainian market at an average of 63% cheaper than in the same period last year. Industry experts attribute this price situation to the fact that many farms encountered problems with storing carrots, as the quality of the produce was initially far from ideal due to the adverse effects of unfavorable weather conditions at the time of harvesting in the fall of 2025.
