Prices for table beets have dropped significantly in Ukraine: what’s happening in the market

25 March 15:17

Wholesale prices for table beets in Ukraine began to gradually decline as early as the beginning of March this year. And last week was no exception, according to analysts from the EastFruit project, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".

To boost trading and purchasing activity, Ukrainian farmers are forced to lower prices for this product once again. On the eve of the weekend, these root vegetables were offered on the Ukrainian market at 3–8 UAH/kg ($0.07–0.18/kg), which is on average 19% cheaper than at the end of the previous workweek.

According to experts, the downward price trend is linked to an increase in the supply of these vegetables on the market, as farms that previously refrained from selling are now actively selling their available stock. At the same time, the supply of substandard root vegetables remains quite significant, which also puts downward pressure on prices for high-quality produce.

It is worth noting that the price of table beets in Ukraine is currently, on average, 91% lower than in the third week of March 2025. Some market participants do not rule out further price declines, despite the seasonal reduction in supply. They attribute this assessment to significant stocks of table beets in local storage facilities.
