The number of appeals for mental health disorders has doubled in Ukraine

The number of Ukrainians seeking medical care for mental disorders such as depression, anxiety, insomnia, apathy, and PTSD has doubled since 2022. This was announced by the head of the National Health Service of Ukraine Natalia Gusak on television, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports citing Ukrinform.
According to her, this indicates a loss of psychological stability among the population, as well as the fact that every third person in Ukraine has already experienced depression, symptoms of PTSD or other mental disorders.
According to WHO estimates, about 9 million Ukrainians need or will need mental health care in the near future.
Gusak also emphasized that mental health directly affects physical health: over the past three years, doctors have recorded an increase in cases of strokes, heart attacks, and exacerbations of chronic and oncological diseases caused by stress and psychological stress.
She reminded that starting in 2021, as part of the Affordable Medicines program, Ukrainians can receive medicines for the treatment of mental disorders free of charge or with partial payment.
