Government decree to improve support system for those released from captivity in Ukraine

6 August 17:51

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted a resolution that should improve the treatment, rehabilitation and social adaptation of Ukrainians, both military and civilian, after their release from Russian captivity. The document was developed by the Ministry of Defense, reports "Komersant Ukrainian"

According to the Defense Ministry, the resolution provides for

  • clearer requirements for medical examinations of the released;
  • a comprehensive program of treatment and psychological support;
  • expansion of the network of institutions for reintegration – with the participation of the centers of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Security Service, the State Security Service, the SZRU and others;
  • assistance in obtaining documents (internal and foreign passports) directly in medical institutions.

In addition, the Ministry of Defense is preparing amendments to regulations so that injuries sustained in captivity are equated with injuries sustained at the front.

“We will provide everyone who has survived the horrors of Russian captivity with attention, support and an individual approach,” the ministry said.

As a reminder, on August 3, President Zelensky announced that another prisoner exchange was being prepared.
