A new city will appear in Ukraine: Slobozhanske changes its status

Ukraine will soon officially add another city. The village of Slobozhanske, Dnipro district, Dnipro region, will be granted city status. The relevant draft resolution of the Verkhovna Rada was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. This was announced by the government’s representative in parliament, Taras Melnychuk, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
“The draft resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine “On classifying Slobozhanske village, Dnipro district, Dnipro region, as a city” has been approved. The draft proposes to classify the village of Slobozhanske, Dnipro district, Dnipro region, as a city,” the report says.
According to Mykola Lukashuk, head of the Dnipro Regional Council, the change in status will open up new development prospects for the community and strengthen its role in the region.
“It can bring additional resources and support programs for the residents,” he said.

The official inclusion of Slobozhanske in the list of Ukrainian cities will allow the community to receive expanded administrative powers, as well as additional state support for infrastructure development and social projects.
Slobozhanske: basic information about the settlement
Slobozhanske (until 2016 – Yuvileine) is a city in the Dniprovskyi district of the Dnipro region, the administrative center of the Slobozhanska settlement community. As of 2022, the population amounted to 14,661 people, and the number of the community exceeds 23 thousand residents (2020). The authorities of Dniprovskyi district are located in Slobozhanske.
Geographical location
The city is located between Donetsk Highway and Slobozhanskyi Avenue, serving as an important transport hub and the so-called “left bank gate” of the regional center – the city of Dnipro. It is bordered by Dnipro to the north, west and east, and by the town of Pidhorodne to the south.

History and archeology
Archaeological evidence suggests that the territory of modern Slobozhanske has been inhabited since at least the second millennium AD, and important steppe routes of the Kyivan Rus times ran through it.
Modern development
Slobozhanske is actively developing: new residential complexes are being built, infrastructure is expanding, and the number of residents is increasing. In 2023, the community was awarded the title of “The Best Sports Community of Dnipropetrovska Oblast“.
