Ukraine convicts in absentia commander of “dnr” assault group (photo)

The commander of an assault company of the Cascade group, who took part in hostilities against Ukraine in Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions, has been sentenced in Ivano-Frankivsk. This information was provided by the Security Service of Ukraine in Ivano-Frankivsk region, according to ![]()
According to the special service, the convict is a native of Kirovohrad region and a resident of Donetsk region, born in 1994. Since 2014, he has been a member of illegal armed groups.
In March 2019, the defendant joined the ‘operational and combat tactical formation ‘Cascade’ and became a squad commander with the rank of junior sergeant. As part of this unit, he led an assault group.




During a full-scale invasion, the militant and his unit tried to prevent a counter-offensive by the Armed Forces near Urozhayne and was wounded in the Zaporizhzhia sector in July 2023, and was later treated in a hospital in Donetsk.
The court found the man guilty under four articles of the Criminal Code: Article 111 – high treason; Article 111-1 – collaboration; Article 258-3 – participation in a terrorist organisation; Article 260 – participation in armed groups not provided for by law.
The judges sentenced him to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
