An employment initiative has been launched for Ukrainian women to help them find their first job or internship in STEM fields: science, tech and digital, engineering, and mathematics. It is available to students, aspiring professionals, and social media professionals, Kommersant Ukrainian reports.

To receive up-to-date selections of verified Intern, Trainee/Junior vacancies, as well as training and mentoring support, you need to become a member of the STEM is FEM community by filling out the form.

The share of women in IT is growing every year and is approaching a quarter, according to a study by dev.ua. At the same time, 51% of DOU respondents said it was “very difficult” to find a first job. The most common challenges include a lack of vacancies, a lack of response from companies, and high requirements for candidates. To help women get the first job they want and help Ukrainian businesses hire motivated professionals, the STEM is FEM ecosystem has launched an initiative to hire female start-ups.

“Today, Ukrainian business needs qualified specialists – in particular, young professionals who are ready to change the STEM industry. But students and graduates do not always understand where they can go and how to develop. That’s why our project has an important task: “To match motivated young women with companies that are ready to train and grow them. I am convinced that the cooperation of educational initiatives, career platforms and businesses will stimulate the development of the Ukrainian tech sector and the economy as a whole,” comments Sergiy Tokarev, initiator of STEM is FEM, tech businessman and investor.

The initiative was made possible with the support of leading job search portals such as Lezo, Happy Monday, and BazaIT, which, in partnership with STEM is FEM , will select relevant vacancies for young professionals. For example, BazaIT will help to find a job in tech faster, says Victoria Nalyvaiko, CEO and Co-Founder of the platform:

“I know how important it is to find your first job. We have teamed up to speed up this process. I recommend that job seekers be motivated and proactive, forget about modesty and start telling about themselves. Ukraine needs new talent to become a first-world country.”

The community’s opportunities are not limited to job postings. It is a supportive environment for young Ukrainian women who want to develop in STEM sciences and professions. STEM is FEM conducts thematic webinars, including on CV writing, interviewing, and maintaining a LinkedIn profile. The project also provides mentoring support from STEM experts.

sTEM is FEM is the first STEM ecosystem in Ukraine that brings together organisations, people, and ideas that interact to promote education and careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
