The epidemiological season is over in Ukraine: 4.6 million people have been infected

The 2024/2025 epidemiological season has officially ended in Ukraine. During this period, more than 4.6 million people fell ill with influenza, COVID-19, and acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI), the Ministry of Health reports , "Komersant Ukrainian".

A total of 4,628,292 people fell ill, including more than 2.6 million children.

The incidence rate decreased compared to the previous season – COVID-19 was recorded 7.4 times less often than last year.

The largest outbreak was observed in February 2025, after which the incidence rate decreased weekly.

From September 30, 2024, to May 18, 2025, COVID-19 was confirmed in 21,363 people, including more than 2,500 children. The rest sought medical care for flu, colds, and other ARVIs.

The followingwere admitted to hospitals:

  • 126,733 people with ARVI complications (73,999 of them were children);
  • 6,581 people were admitted due to COVID-19 complications (901 children).

193 deaths were registered, including nine among children. None of the deceased had been vaccinated against influenza or COVID-19.

As of today, the epidemiological threshold has not been exceeded in any region, although the circulation of influenza viruses is still recorded in seven regions.
