Ukraine has changed the date of the Day of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree postponing the celebration from November 21 to November 8. This was reported by the press service of the Airborne Assault Forces (AAF) on Facebook, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
“We are honored to announce that from now on we are celebrating our holiday on November 8 – as it should be according to the New Julian calendar,” the Airborne Forces said.
The changes are enshrined in Presidential Decree No. 817/2025 of November 4.
Why November 8?
On this day, according to the New Julian calendar, the Feast of All Angels of God, led by the Archangel Michael, is celebrated. The DSHV emphasizes that this date was not chosen by chance – Archangel Michael is the patron saint of the military and a symbol of the fight against evil.
“St. Michael is the senior commander of the heavenly army and the patron saint of soldiers on earth. We continue his fight, repelling the enemy along the entire front line – from Sumy to Donetsk, from Zaporizhzhia to Kherson,” the paratroopers said in a statement.

Symbolic meaning
The airborne assault troops reminded that they are always the first to take the fight, liberate Ukrainian lands and perform the most difficult combat missions. The new holiday is intended to emphasize the spiritual strength and indomitable nature of Ukrainian soldiers.
“We are the first to fight and the first to liberate Ukrainian lands. We successfully fulfill the most difficult tasks, harden ourselves in them and unite with our own men,” the Airborne Forces emphasized.
From now on, the Day of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be celebrated annually on November 8.
