New rules for mandatory technical inspection of vehicles have come into force in Ukraine, introducing stricter control, mandatory photo recording, and higher prices, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports, citing a Cabinet of Ministers resolution.
New rules of technical inspection: what has changed
According to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 286, the technical inspection procedure has undergone significant changes. The new approach aims to eliminate any opportunities for corruption schemes and make the inspection as transparent as possible.
Key innovations include:
- Strict control of technical elements: all external devices of the car – headlights, parking lights, turn signals, brake lights – will be checked for serviceability with maximum scrutiny.
- Mandatory photo recording: each stage of the inspection will be recorded in photos that will be uploaded to a single database. Images must meet quality standards and will not be subject to editing.
- Special attention to key systems: tachographs, braking systems and vehicle appearance will be checked.
These changes are aimed at improving road safety and ensuring that vehicles meet modern standards.
Increase in the cost of technical inspection
The new rules are accompanied by an increase in the cost of vehicle inspections, which may become an additional burden for car owners.
Cars: the price has increased from UAH 1,050 to UAH 1,700.
Trucks and buses: the cost of inspection will reach UAH 2,300.
This increase is due to the complexity of the procedure and the need to use modern equipment for photo recording and inspection.
Consequences of failure to pass the inspection
Failure to comply with the new requirements can lead to serious consequences for vehicle owners:
- Fines for non-compliance with technical standards.
- Prohibition of vehicle operation in case of significant malfunctions.
- Revocationof licenses for carriers who fail to pass the inspection.
- Restrictions on traveling abroad in your own car if the inspection has not been passed.
How to prepare your car for the inspection
To successfully pass the updated inspection and avoid fines, drivers should check the key systems of their car in advance:
- Lighting: make sure that the headlights, parking lights, turn signals, and brake lights are working flawlessly.
- Brake system: check the condition of the brakes to ensure they meet safety standards.
- Tachographs: For commercial vehicles, make sure tachographs are installed and functioning properly.
- Appearance: The vehicle should be clean, with no significant damage to the body or glass.
It is also worth contacting a certified service center for a preliminary diagnosis to eliminate possible deficiencies before the official inspection.
