What else has the government done to reduce drug prices?
After the meeting of the National Security and Defense Council on February 12, the government launched a number of regulatory measures:
- Setting clear markups for all medicines.
- Prohibition of marketing payments until the introduction of reference pricing.
- Resumption of inspections of pharmacy chains to control prices.
In addition, the Verkhovna Rada adopted in the second reading amendments to the Law “On Medicines” that introduce mandatory reference pricing and the creation of a National Price Catalog. The document has now been submitted to the President of Ukraine for signature.
