Meat prices rise in Ukraine

The cost of all major types of meat in Ukraine has increased compared to last year. According to analysts, prices for beef, pork and chicken may rise further in the fall due to seasonal demand and production factors.
This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to RBC Ukraine.
How much does meat cost
- Beef – 361.45 UAH/kg (last year 297.03 UAH/kg)
- Pork – 215.28 UAH/kg (last year 182.74 UAH/kg)
- Chicken fillet – 239.55 UAH/kg (last year 167.36 UAH/kg)
“Meat has risen in price, and there are reasons for this,” said Maksym Hopka, an analyst at the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club. He added that market conditions are such that prices for cheaper types of meat push up the cost of premium categories.
Reasons for the rise in price
Hopka explained that at the end of 2024, the number of pigs in Ukraine decreased due to active hostilities in the East, where large enterprises were located. This led to an increase in purchase prices for pork and, as a result, a rise in the price of beef and chicken.
The expert added that in the first half of 2025, the cost of chicken was also gradually increasing, but now it has stabilized.
Further price increases are possible
According to Hopka, Ukraine compensates for the lack of pork by importing it, which has increased from 50-100 tons to 200-250 tons per year. Demand for pork traditionally increases before the winter holidays, which could trigger a new price hike.
The price of chicken will continue to depend on feed prices, electricity, and the capacity of enterprises. “If there are power outages, diesel generators will have to be used, which will increase costs and the price of products,” Hopka explained.
Economist Oleh Pendzin added that the rise in meat prices will also restrain the purchasing power of the population. “I don’t expect a big jump. Meat has risen in price less than the general food basket of a Ukrainian. If it becomes too expensive, people will not buy it,” the expert concluded.
