Ukrainians have a new tool to check the quality of the Internet
17 February 14:07
The National Commission for the State Regulation of Electronic Communications, Radio Frequency Spectrum and Postal Services (NCCS) is launching a tool for checking the speed of the Internet connection, the QoS Tool – Speedtest. This is reported on the website of the National Commission, "Komersant Ukrainian" informs.
The service has been developed in partnership with Ookla to provide consumers with a convenient mechanism for measuring key parameters of Internet service quality.
Reportedly, the results of measurements made using this tool will be automatically transferred to the National Commission for the Analysis of the Quality of Internet Access Services. The data obtained will become part of the mechanism for assessing the actual quality of the Internet connection, which will be taken into account when making regulatory decisions. Providers, on the other hand, will be able to analyze the test results from their customers and take measures to improve the service.
How to use the QoS Tool – Speedtest
Follow the link and click the “Get Started” button.
In a few seconds, you will be able to get accurate data on the speed of your current Internet connection.
If the results obtained do not meet the stated terms of the tariff plan and the contract, the National Commission recommends contacting your service provider.
You can accumulate and analyze the test results, as well as send them to your service provider for consideration.
For its part, the National Commission for the State Regulation of Electronic Communications, Radio Frequency Spectrum and Postal Services will analyze the data obtained to improve the regulatory framework in the field of electronic communications.
What parameters can be measured with this tool
– Download (DL) – the speed of data acquisition (the amount of data transferred per second, expressed in megabits per second – Mbps).
– Upload (UL) – data transfer speed (the speed of sending information from the user to the server, expressed in Mbps).
– Ping (latency) – the time required to send a request to the server and receive a response.
– Jitter is the deviation of the delay time during data transmission.
Internet quality can be improved with Diia
In January, the Diia app launched a new service that allows you to quickly respond to a lack of connection or mobile Internet. This was announced by Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov.
According to him, the service is available on the main screen of the app.
“It is very easy to report a missing connection in Diia:
You need to go to “No connection” on the Diia home screen, provide one-time access to your geolocation, and outline the problem.
In order to send a request if there is no internet connection, you need to download the Map of Unbreakability in advance, and if the internet goes out, you can safely leave the request in Diia, it will be automatically sent when the connection returns.
The application will be received by the National Commission for the Regulation of Communications. It will find out about the places where there are still problems with the Internet and communication, and together with the operators, it will fix the situation.
