The case of “Wojciechowski’s houses”

Anatoly Voitsekhovsky is the owner of several construction companies. on July 15, 2016, he was detained and accused of tax evasion in the amount of UAH 12.5 million and of creating a criminal group for unauthorized occupation of a land plot.

Later, the court arrested Wojciechowski and set his bail at UAH 14 million. According to the prosecutor’s office, in 2004-2013, Wojciechowski acquired shares in the authorized capital of 12 companies. Through them, he illegally seized land plots for the construction of 40 facilities, which is being carried out without permits.

Law enforcement officers investigated more than a hundred episodes of crimes related to Wojciechowski’s scams. His property worth UAH 200 million was seized, and 12 indictments were sent to court.

The largest of Wojciechowski’s completed projects is the Megasity residential complex. In 2013, the Architectural and Construction Inspectorate canceled its own construction certificates, so two buildings were not officially commissioned. As a result, residents do not have direct contracts with the electricity supplier.

Most of the houses built by Wotsekhovsky’s companies remained connected under temporary schemes, which means that residents have constant interruptions in electricity and water supply and pay higher, industrial tariffs. In some high-rise buildings, residents are forced to heat their homes with firewood.
