Heat is returning to Ukraine: forecasters predict the first “Indian summer” as early as August 28
27 August 17:28
In the coming days, Ukraine will experience real summer weather – the first “Indian summer” will begin. This was reported by weather forecaster Natalia Didenko on the air of Ukrainian Radio, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
According to her, despite the calendar end of summer, the season of hot days is not over yet. “The last week of August will be very warm – in fact, July-like,” she explained.
What the weather will be like
- The temperature will gradually rise starting from Wednesday.
- on August 29-31, almost all regions are expected to experience temperatures between 28° and 34°.
- The nights will remain relatively cool – up to 20°, which will make the heat easier to perceive.
“It will be quite a strong warming. The only relief is that the night temperatures are not as high as in July,” Didenko said.
What is “Indian summer”?
The meteorologist reminded that the term “Indian summer” is not scientific, but it describes a certain climatic phenomenon. It is a period of stable dry and sunny weather, when warm days are combined with cool nights.
There are usually three “Indian summers” in Ukraine:
- The first is from August 28 to September 11.
- The second is in early October.
- The third is sometimes even in mid-November.
“I suspect that this year’s first ‘Indian summer’ will last from August 28 to September 11,” Didenko said.
Forecasts of other forecasters
Forecaster Igor Kibalchych also speaks of a significant warming at the end of summer. According to him, on August 29 in the western regions the air will warm up to 33°… 35°, and then the heat will spread throughout Ukraine. In some places, the temperature may reach 37°.
Thus, August will end with abnormally hot days that will open the first stage of the Indian summer.
