HACC arrested Oleg Gladkovskyi in absentia: what is known

The High Anti-Corruption Court has remanded former First Deputy Secretary of the National Defence and Security Council Oleh Hladkovsky in absentia on charges of misappropriation of UAH 17.44 million. This was reported by the press service of the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

The SAPO did not name the person, but according to media reports, it is Oleg Gladkovsky.

“On 13 May 2024, an investigating judge of the HACC upheld the position of the SAPO prosecutor and imposed a preventive measure in the form of detention on the former First Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council, who, together with the former Deputy Minister of Defence and the director of a department of the Ministry of Defence, is accused of causing damage to the state totalling UAH 17.44 million,”

– the SAPO informs.

Earlier, the HACCU put former NSDC official Oleh Hladkovskyi on the wanted list.

The pre-trial investigation established that the former NSDC official used his power and official position against the interests of the service to obtain undue advantage by a structure in which he and his close associates have an ownership stake, namely PJSC Bogdan Motors Automobile Company.

In October 2019, the former First Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council was served with a notice of suspicion. In April 2020, the former Deputy Minister of Defence and Director of a department of the Ministry of Defence were served with a notice of suspicion.

These individuals are charged with committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
02.on 07.2021, the indictment in the case was sent to the HACC for consideration on the merits.

According to the media, Oleh Hladkovskyi travelled abroad many times during the full-scale war. In March 2022, he stopped appearing at court hearings.

16.on 04.2024, the HACCJ panel of judges, taking into account the absence of the accused from court hearings and the availability of confirmed information about the SAPO prosecutor’s motion to put the former First Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council on the wanted list.
