The High Anti-Corruption Court has delivered a verdict against a Member of Parliament of Ukraine of the V convocation. The official was sentenced in absentia to ten and a half years in prison. This was reported by the press service of the HACC, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
The former MP was found not guilty of committing a criminal offense under Part 3 of Article 27, Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code (organization of abuse of power or official position by another person). At the same time, the court found him guilty under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code (misappropriation of another’s property committed on a particularly large scale).
The court noted that the beginning of the sentence would be calculated from the moment of the convict’s detention. The verdict can be appealed within 30 days.
The Anti-Corruption Action Center clarified that the sentence was imposed on former Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc MP and businessman Dmytro Kriuchkov in the case of UAH 346 million in lost revenues of Zaporizhzhiaoblenergo and Energorynok. He was sentenced to 10.5 years in prison in absentia with confiscation of property.
“The HACC trial lasted five years. During this time, more than 100 court hearings were scheduled. The defense arguments alone lasted more than a year,” the activists said.
Kryuchkov listened to the announcement of the verdict against him online, as he has been abroad since February 2024.
Earlier, 47-year-old Dmitry Kryuchkov claimed that he had the right to permanent residence in Monaco. Later, he was allegedly undergoing treatment in Switzerland. Later, he said he was in France or Vienna.
It should be reminded that this is the second sentence for Kryuchkov. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison in the case of misappropriation of funds from Cherkasyoblenergo and Zaporizhzhiaoblenergo. The case is currently under appeal.
