Farion’s murder: Zelensky announced more details

On Friday, 26 July, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko will provide more public information on the murder of linguist and public figure Iryna Farion and the progress of the investigation. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his evening video address, [Komersant] reports
“I have heard a report from the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko on the detention of a suspect in the murder of Iryna Farion. I asked the Minister to provide the public and journalists with all the necessary information,”
– the head of state said.
Zelenskyy noted that procedural actions are still ongoing and all the circumstances of the case are being clarified.
“Tomorrow there should be more information – publicly,” the president added.
What is known about Farion’s murder
As a reminder, on 19 July, former MP and linguist Iryna Farion died in hospital after an assassination attempt.
Around 19:30, an unknown person shot Iryna Farion in the head near her house on Masaryk Street in Lviv. She was admitted to hospital in critical condition.
The police in Lviv region have put a suspect in the murder of linguist and public figure Iryna Farion on the wanted list. His photo and video from surveillance cameras were posted on the police’s social media pages.
Farion was buried at the Lychakiv Cemetery on the central alley (field 22, near the grave of Volodymyr Ivasyuk). Thousands of people gathered to see the linguist to her final resting place.
On Thursday, 25 July, law enforcement officers detained a young man in one of Dnipro’s high-rise buildings who is suspected of murdering politician and linguist Iryna Farion, which took place on 19 July in Lviv.
