Immediately after the court hearing, the former teacher from Vinnytsia region, who is suspected of killing two teenagers, tried to commit suicide in the pre-trial detention center. He was hospitalized.

The attempt to take his own life, made by Oleksiy Ponomaryov, an English teacher at a school in Shargorod, was reported by criminal journalist Vitaliy Gubin. According to him, the former teacher tried to hang himself. After a failed attempt, he was hospitalized, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

“The reason is an attempt to commit suicide. Judging by the diagnosis (X70.0), he most likely tried to hang himself. He stayed in the hospital until 19.09, and was discharged. It is clear that he would have been appointed an examination to establish “jurisdiction” anyway, but now this process may be accelerated,” he said in his post.

Gubin also recalled the chronology of events in the case of the murder of teenagers in Vinnytsia region. According to it, on the morning of September 10, Ponomaryov was traveling to work on a school bus. He noticed two schoolchildren, Mykola Bilyk and Vladyslav Bevza, with whom he had a conflict.

After getting off at the bus stop, Ponomarev followed the teenagers. He pulled out a knife he had purchased three months before the events and stabbed one boy five times in the torso and neck, and the other at least 12 times.

The teacher was detained on the same day in Shargorod, and on September 11, the court imposed a preventive measure in the form of non-alternative arrest. Ponomaryov was placed in SIZO No. 5, from where he was rushed to a hospital under guard on September 13.
