The Verkhovna Rada adopts the budget for the next year in the first reading

247 MPs supported the draft state budget for 2025 in the first reading, reports
State budget expenditures are planned at more than UAH 3.6 trillion, which is UAH 535 billion more than this year. General fund revenues are planned at UAH 2.7 billion, which is UAH 411 billion more than this year.
As MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak stated in his Telegram, having adopted the budget conclusions as a whole, not a single amendment was changed, except for the amendment on prosecutors’ salaries.
MP Oleksiy Honcharenko is in solidarity with him. According to him, the only thing that was pressed and shot down was the increase in prosecutors’ salaries.
Oleksiy Honcharenko himself voted against the draft budget. He explained his reasons.
“What I can say is that this is a very bad budget. There is no increase in social benefits for any category. There is no increase in payments to the military. This is what I am constantly defending here and will continue to do so. Because this is just absurd. How do you want people to survive when you raise taxes but freeze salary and benefit increases!” the MP wrote in Telegram.
