From Lviv to Dnipro: how the network of military trauma centers is growing

4 March 16:19

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will provide a grant of €4.13 million to support Superhumans military trauma centers in Odesa and Dnipro. This was reported by the financial institution, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

This assistance comes amid a growing need for specialized rehabilitation due to the full-scale war.

Why is this important

The European Bank for Reconstruction andDevelopment explains that the need for grant support is due to a shortage of specialized rehabilitation services. Because of this, patients are forced to travel to Lviv or abroad.

Superhumans is a nationwide military trauma center that, since 2022, has specialized in prosthetics, reconstructive surgery, rehabilitation, and psychological support for adults and children affected by the war.

New center in Odesa

In mid-2026, the organization plans to open a medical center in Odesa. It is expected to:

  • accept up to 600 new patients per year;
  • provide follow-up care to up to 1,200 people annually;
  • expand access to multidisciplinary rehabilitation in southern Ukraine.

The project is expected to reduce the burden on western regions and shorten the distance patients have to travel to receive care.

Where the centers are currently operating

Superhumans Centers are currently operating in Lviv and Dnipro.

  • The Lviv center was opened in April 2023.
  • The center in Dnipro began operating in June 2025.

Together, they can treat up to 2,000 patients per year.

Who is behind the initiative

Superhumans is a private initiative of entrepreneur Andriy Stavnitser, co-owner of TIS Port, and investor Philip Grushko, partner at SD Capital.

The project is funded by charitable donations and international support.
