on August 29, the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine, a national campaign called War is about Names will be held across the country. The main idea is to remember every soldier who gave his life for freedom and to make this memory collective and visible. This was reported by Ukrayinska Pravda. Life, reports "Komersant Ukrainian".

This year’s focus is on business participation.

The Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications calls on companies to join in honoring the fallen by displaying their names on screens in offices, shopping centers, restaurants, cafes, banks, and on outdoor LED screens in cities. For this purpose, ready-made design templates have been developed, as well as lists of warriors’ names that can be used.

“This simple but important gesture is our way of thanking the defenders and supporting the families of the fallen. Join the largest action of collective memory on August 29,” the Ministry of Culture said.

At 9:00 a.m., Ukrainians are urged to stop, raise their heads up, put their hands on their hearts and mentally recall the names of familiar defenders. At the same time, companies, institutions, and organizations will be able to broadcast the names of soldiers in their spaces.

You can also join in on social media: just publish a post with the caption “War is about names. 29.08. Remember them by name” and the hashtag #warisnames.

Why it is important for business

  • Social responsibility – participation in the memorial campaign demonstrates the company’s respect for the defenders and support for society in time of war.
  • Uniting communities – offline and online business spaces can become a place where people honor the fallen together.
  • An example for partners and customers – participation in such initiatives builds trust in the company and emphasizes its humanity.

The Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine is celebrated annually on August 29, the day when hundreds of Ukrainian soldiers were killed in 2014 while withdrawing from the Ilovaisk cauldron. The Verkhovna Rada additionally established July 28 as the Day of Mourning and Commemoration of all defenders, volunteers and civilians who were executed, tortured or killed in captivity.
