Power cuts on February 18: Ukrenergo introduces strict schedules across Ukraine

18 February 02:19

On February 18, strict power outage schedules for the population and power restrictions for industrial consumers will be introduced throughout Ukraine. These measures were a necessary step after Russia’s new massive missile and drone attacks on the country’s energy infrastructure. This was reported by the press service of NEC Ukrenergo, according to "Komersant Ukrainian" .

The blackouts will affect all regions of Ukraine

According to energy officials, hourly power outage schedules will be applied in all regions of Ukraine without exception.

The restrictions will apply to both domestic consumers and industry. In addition, power restriction schedules will be introduced for enterprises to reduce the load on the power system.

Ukrenergo emphasized that the restrictions will be in effect around the clock, from 00:00 to 24:00.

The reason is Russia’s massive attacks on the power grid.

The main reason for the introduction of strict schedules was the serious damage to energy facilities after the latest Russian attacks.

As a result of the strikes, part of the generating capacities and electricity transmission facilities were destroyed, which significantly reduced the system’s ability to provide a stable electricity supply.

Energy workers are working hard to stabilize the situation as quickly as possible and repair the damaged equipment.

Where to check the power outage schedule

Energy companies urge Ukrainians to check the current power outage schedules for their addresses on official resources:

  • regional energy company websites (oblenergo);
  • official pages of oblenergo on social networks;
  • local information resources of energy suppliers.

The time of the outage may vary depending on the region, city, and specific street.

The situation remains difficult and may change

Ukrenergo warns that the energy situation remains tense and may change depending on:

  • the consequences of new attacks;
  • the condition of damaged facilities;
  • the level of electricity consumption;
  • weather conditions.

Ukrainians are urged to use electricity as sparingly as possible, especially during periods when electricity is available.

Energy companies are asking Ukrainians to prepare

Experts recommend:

  • charge power banks and phones;
  • stock up on water;
  • prepare flashlights and alternative sources of lighting;
  • not to overload the grid once power is restored.

These measures will help reduce the load on the power grid and speed up its stabilization.
