Power outage on March 4: who will be affected by the restrictions
4 March 01:57
On March 4, electricity consumption restrictions will be introduced for industrial consumers in some regions of Ukraine. Household consumers will not be affected by power cuts at this stage. This was reported by the press service of Ukrenergo, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
What restrictions will be in effect on March 4
According to energy officials, on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until the end of the day, the following will apply in some regions:
- hourly power cuts;
- power restriction schedules for industrial enterprises.
At the same time, no power cuts are planned for the population.
Energy companies explain that these measures are necessary to stabilize the power grid.
Reason for the return of restrictions
The main reason for the restrictions was the consequences of the latest Russian missile and drone attacks on energy infrastructure facilities.
Damage to the power grid is forcing operators to temporarily restrict electricity consumption to avoid overloading the networks.
Where to check the power cut schedules
Ukrenergo emphasizes that the situation in the power grid remains dynamic and may change depending on:
- the level of electricity consumption;
- weather conditions;
- the pace of restoration of damaged infrastructure.
Up-to-date information on the timing and scope of restrictions can be found:
- on the websites of regional power distribution companies;
- in the chatbots of regional operators;
- on the official resources of energy companies.
What is the situation with electricity in Ukraine?
As of early March, the electricity deficit in Ukraine had decreased to approximately 1 GW, while in winter it reached 5–6 GW.
Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal noted that businesses are gradually adapting to power outages and actively investing in their own energy sources.
In particular, the use of the following is becoming more widespread:
- solar power plants;
- energy storage systems;
- distributed generation.
Such solutions help reduce the load on the power grid, especially during peak hours.
